The 11th Multimillionaire Business

over Rs 2500 crore and those who are engaged in social welfare activities.
This year’s MBA award was presented to Dr Viju Jacob the managing director of
Synthite Industries Pvt Ltd. The winner gets the opportunity to enter the
world’s richest club, Federal International Chamber Forum (FICF).
The awards ceremony was held on November 23 at the Le-Meridian Hotel, Kochi.
The managing director and CEO of Manappuram Finance Pvt Ltd Mr V P Nandakumar
was the chief guest for the award ceremony.

Spices have always been an irreplaceable factor in Indian
cuisines. And our country continues to be the world’s biggest producer of
spices. Synthite, which is today the largest supplier of Spice Oils and
Oleoresins in the world, was established by C V Jacob in Kolenchery in 1972.

For Dr Viju Jacob, the desire for excellence started right from
his childhood. After schooling in Kochi, he moved to Thiruvananthapuram to
pursue his graduation. His father, the visionary and founder of Synthite
Industries Limited, C V Jacob, wanted him to grow up with independence and
develop himself. After graduating in economics and then pursuing commerce at
Sacred Hearts College, Thevara, he stepped into his father’s business, helping
him get a foundation in the principles of business from an early age.

Not long after joining Synthite, his father gave him the first
independent assignment when he was tasked with expanding the business to
Australia. He took it as an opportunity to develop his marketing acumen. Soon
he finalised a tie-up with an agency that had been extremely successful in the
Australian market.

Along with the commerce in spices and flavours, Synthite entered
the hospitality sector at Viju’s initiative by developing a vacation resort in
Cochin that presently have a 5-star deluxe recognition and another apartment
hotel. Synthite has effectively expanded throughout the years, introducing more
and more products and services since its founding in 1972. Customers can choose
from more than 500 different product variants offered by Synthite. Spice
powders with the brand name “Kitchen Treasures” were introduced in the
retail sector of Kerala in 2012. With an annual turnover of more than Rs 2,000
crore, Synthite has grown to become one of Kerala’s top business corporations
under Viju’s direction.

Viju ensures that neither he nor his colleagues are ever
discouraged by the challenges or any disappointments since he feels that
overcoming barriers in the business world is a necessary part of the process.
His guiding principle was to learn from your errors and move on from setbacks
with a positive attitude so that nobody could fail you. Never keep information
to yourself; always share it with others.
